Since the first official participation of Mexico in Philadelphia Expo 1876, the Mexican pavilion has always given much to talk about; and now after 75 days of knowing the jury's National Competition Architectural Design of the Mexico Pavilion at the upcoming World Expo in Milan in 2015, he finally got to know the winning proposal designed by architect Francisco López Almada War together with Chef Jorge Vallejo and biologist John Guzzy, who based his proposal in a typical Mexican food, "corn" (in the words of the architect).
Projects were 39 participants in this competition and were first three places and two honorable mentions. The criteria taken into account to give the final verdict was: Form and Function of the architectural project, level of sustainability, ease of construction and dismantling and Compliance program and budget.
This national competition jury had the Mexican architects, Mauricio Rivero Borrell, president of the College of Architects of Mexico; José Luis Cortés Delgado, Director of Continuing Education and former Director of the School of Architecture at the Universidad Iberoamericana; Marcos Mazari Hiriart, Director of the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM; José Fernando Vigil Herrera, president of the Luis Barragan Foundation, among others.
According to the notice of competition, the Milan Expo 2015 has as one of its principal axes "sustainability" both the principle of how to feed the world population in a more sustainable manner, even in the design of the master plan of the fairgrounds Universal Exhibition; and carrying the title "Feeding the Planet, Energy for life".
The location of the Mexican pavilion in this edition is privileged, located at the crossroads of great importance as the master plan and with an area of 1910 m2. From this premise was as each of the contestants he developed his proposal which will see the May 1 to October 31, 2015 in the city of Milan, Italy.
